A House Republican from Michigan, in response to a disgruntled supporter at a town hall meeting on Monday, suggested that he’d like to file an impeachment bill against President Obama.
The only problem? He needs some gosh-darn evidence.
“You know, if I could write that bill and submit it, it would be a dream come true,” Rep. Kerry Bentivolio (R-Mich.) said. “I feel your pain, I know, I stood twelve feet away from the guy and listened to him. I couldn’t stand being there, but because he is president I have to respect the office. That’s my job, as a congressman, I respect the office.”
Bentivolio went on to say that he is consulting with lawyers on how to go about impeaching President Obama… if only he could come up with something… ANYthing… to impeach him for.
Bentivolio told his constituents:
“Until we have evidence, you’re going to become a laughing stock if you’ve submitted the bill to impeach the president because number one you’ve got to convince the press,” the congressman said. “And there are some people out there no matter what Obama does he is still the greatest president they have ever had. That’s what you’re fighting.”
Hey, I hate to break to you… you’re ALREADY a laughing stock. You’re talking about impeaching the president because… you don’t like him, and just want to impeach him. There is nothing to impeach President Obama for. And this type of talk is happening in other places, too.
We’d personally would like to see Republicans actually accomplish things that tangentially affect Americans in a positive way. But right now, they are too interested in impeachment talks or trying to stop ObamaCare.
